Scoreboards & Displays

At 36' W x 15.5' H, the  video board at FirstEnergy Stadium is three times the size of its predecessor and one of the largest in all of Minor League Baseball.

FROM THE STANDS

A 558 square foot video board (36' W x 15.5' H), has replaced the old 165 square foot model in left center field.

The board, manufactured by in the United States by Daktronics, is capable of displaying 68 billion colors and produces a resolution that is more than twice as sharp as its predecessor. Also included with the new board is Daktronics' V-Play Operating System, the latest in stadium video technology in terms of displaying graphics, animations and video clips.

Though not as big, the video screen at FirstEnergy Stadium is the same as the ones the Philadelphia Eagles play in front of at Lincoln Financial Field.

Three digital cameras, one of which is a wireless rover, replace the previous two-camera set-up, allowing for the Phillies Phan Cam operators to get to virtually every area of the ballpark.

Part of the video board project meant that the existing message canter had to be removed. It has been relocated above the Coors Light Deck in left field and serve primarily as an out-of-town scoreboard.

Below the video display is the game score, balls, strikes, outs, runs, hits and errors.  The top section displays the player at-bat, balls, strikes and outs in 24" high numbers.  The game's inning-by-inning score, runs, hits and errors are displayed bellow that in 8" high digits.

To the right of the main scoreboard is a speed of pitch indicator.  Built for the 1999 season the board displays the speed of every pitch thrown in a game.  The display can accommodate three digits should any fireballer capable of hitting 100 M.P.H. with his fastball toe the rubber.

An auxiliary scoreboard is located above the right field grand stand near first base.  The board faces left field to provide fans on The Deck with the score, count, outs, inning and time.

FROM RT. 61

Daktronics is also responsible for the marquee on Centre Avenue/Route 61. The two-sided LED display straddles the sidewalk at the parking lot entrance. Its purpose is to keep passersby updated on upcoming games, promotions and events at the stadium.

IN THE CONCOURSE

The concourse at First Energy Stadium features several color television mounted above concession stands so fans don't miss any of the action while waiting in line.  In addition all 31 picnic tables in the Reading Eagle Pool Pavilion has it's own color television with full cable access.  In 2006, stellar 68-million color LED displays were installed at the Grand Slam Grill in the right field food court.  The displays are capable of showing many different things at once, such as video and stats.
