Post-game fireworks scheduled for 28 R-Phils games

Reading, PA – The Reading Phillies have announced that 28 of the 71 regular season home games at FirstEnergy Stadium will feature post-game fireworks. The number of shows matches last season’s team record.

Every fireworks show, with the exception of Wednesday, July 2 and Sunday, August 17, will occur on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. The July 2 show, one of eight sponsored by Carpenter Technology, will have a patriotic theme. The August 17 fireworks are part of the team’s annual Harley Night which also includes a black game cap giveaway for the first 2,500 fans 18 and older, plus a Harley-Davidson bike raffle to benefit MDA, all thanks to Classic Harley-Davidson.

Saturday, April 26 is the lone April show on the schedule.

Beginning in May, every Friday and Saturday game will feature Fireworks. Come June, the remaining six Thursday games are an AT&T Thursday Night Fireworks show.

Each fireworks night at the ballpark, except July 2, also features live music in the Classic Café before and often times after each game.

The R-Phils fireworks shows, annually one of the team’s most popular promotions, are professionally done by International Fireworks of Douglasville, PA.

Update from Clearwater: Geoff Jenkins came down from big league camp to get some work in and went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Reading’s 2-1 win over their counterparts from Tampa Bay. Tim Kennelly knocked in the R-Phils only other run and five other players logged a hit each, including Alan Robbins who scored a run. Antonio Bastardo led the way on the mound, giving up no runs on four hits over three innings while recording a walk and three strikeouts. The Reading club is 4-1-1 this spring. Updates from spring training on all four Phillies full season teams can be found here.

Quotable: “I tell these kids ‘give me your Guitar Hero concentration’ because, I watch those guys do that, they’re totally into it and I’d like them to have that focus when they’re on the mound.” - Gorman Heimueller, Phillies Minor League Pitching Coordinator, on how he uses technology to assist Phillies pitching prospects in their development.
