Snowfall doesn't keep fans from R-Phils tickets

Reading, PA -- For Mike Reichart it didn’t matter that the pitcher’s mound was covered in snow. Instead, it only made him look forward to the baseball season. Reichart, a teacher at Reading High School, took advantage of the snowfall that canceled school to become the first walkup customer of the 2009 Reading Phillies’ season at 8:45 AM on March 2.

“It makes me wish for baseball. It makes me envious of those people that are in spring training down in Clearwater.” Reichart said, “Wouldn’t mind being down there this morning.”

A Reading Phillies fan since Larry Bowa and Mike Schmidt patrolled the Reading infield in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Reichart still possesses a memento from the then-budding prospects, “Somewhere in my house I have in a box a glove autographed by Mike Schmidt and Larry Bowa when they played here, so that’s how far back I go as a Reading Phillies fan. I bring my kids and hopefully they are turning into Phillies fans as well.”

R-Phils’ Group Sales Manager Tim McGee said, “Its not your ideal day weather-wise to be selling baseball tickets, but it is March…but its still exciting nonetheless to get our single game tickets on sale now.”

Starting in March, ticket office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Individual tickets for the 2009 season can also be purchased online at www.readingphillies.com or via phone at 610-375-8469.
