Service Electric, affiliates to televise 23 games

Reading, PA – The Reading Phillies have announced that Service Electric Cable TV-2 Sports will serve as the flagship provider for an extensive television network that will carry 23 R-Phils home games live in 2008. The R-Phils and SECTV teamed up in 2007 to broadcast 22 games.

SECTV 2 Sports, located in Allentown, will produce the games which will also be carried by network affiliates Service Electric Cablevision, Service Electric Company, Blue Ridge Cable TV-11, Blue Ridge Cable TV-13 and WYLN-35. Overall, R-Phils games will reach over one million homes during the 2008 season.

The possibility exists that other cable systems will join the network by Opening Day.

SECTV will also broadcast “Sports Scene” live from FirstEnergy Stadium on numerous occasions throughout the season. A daily (M-F) half-hour show dedicated to showcasing regional sports, “Sports Scene” airs on SECTV TV2 Sports and Service Electric Cablevision at 6:00 PM.

Reading Phillies play-by-play broadcaster Steve Degler will be in the booth for televised games. Degler will be joined analyst Tim Neiman, a former scout and current head baseball coach at DeSales University. Meredith Marakovits returns to the broadcast team as the reporter and Kyle Berger will also see time in the booth.

During televised games Kale Beers will handle Reading’s radio call for Degler on ESPN 1240 AM and online, where all 142 games can be heard.
