All Reading Phillies radio broadcasts can be heard online at our web site. Broadcasts begin 30 minutes prior to first pitch except on Friday's when the pre-game show begins and hour before game time. Post-game shows follow each game and fans can find a Podcast on the home page every game day.

ESPN 1240 and the R-Phils are celebrating 10 seasons together in 2009.   ESPN 1240, based in Ephrata, PA, has been broadcasting R-Phils baseball since the 2000 season.  Every game will be carried.  The pre-game show starts a half hour before first pitch and an hour before first pitch on Friday's.   Post-game shows follow each broadcast.

Reading, PA – T Service Electric Cable TV-2 Sports will serve as the flagship provider for an extensive television network that will carry many Reading Phillies home games in 2009. 

SECTV 2 Sports, which reaches homes in the Lehigh Valley, will produce the games which will also be carried by network affiliates Service Electric Cablevision, Service Electric Company, Blue Ridge Cable TV-11, Blue Ridge Cable TV-13 and WYLN-35. Overall, R-Phils games will reach over one million homes during the 2008 season.

Coverage Area

Service Electric TV 2 and Service Electric Company deliver to subscribers in the Lehigh Valley, central and northeastern Pennsylvania and northwestern New Jersey. 

Service Electric Cablevision provides for subscribers in eastern Berks County. 

Blue Ridge Cable TV-11 reaches Ephrata and northern Lancaster County.

Blue Ridge Cable TV-13 covers Carbon, Monroe, Pike, Lehigh, Wayne, and Bradford Counties.

WYLN-35 will bring the R-Phils to households in Hazelton, Conyngham, Drums Valley, Sugarloaf, Weatherly, Berwick, Shenandoah, Wilkes-Barre, Mountaintop, Danville, Williamsport and portions of the Poconos on cable and over the air.

Broadcasters  

Anthony Oppermann, radio & online
Anthony Oppermann is the Reading Phillies new radio play-by-play broadcaster. He’ll handle all 143 broadcasts for the team on ESPN 1240 WIOV and readingphillies.com.

Oppermann has spent the last two seasons with the Potomac Nationals, the Class-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals in the Carolina League.  In 2006, Oppermann was the voice of the Daytona Cubs (Chicago, NL) in the Class-A Florida State League. Prior to his season in Daytona, Oppermann spent time with the Round Rock Express as an in-booth producer. The Express are the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros and play in the Pacific Coast League. He also broadcast for the Coppell Copperheads and Weatherford Wranglers of the Texas Collegiate League. 

Oppermann is native of La Grange, TX and a 2004 graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. He earned a B.A. in Radio/TV/Film with emphasis in Sports Broadcasting.

Tony Zonca, radio & online
Post-game shows with interviews by Tony Zonca, are a regular part of R-Phils radio broadcasts.  Video of Zonca's post-game interviews can also be seen on RTV on the hoe page at readingphillies.com.  

With over 40 years of sports writing experience, including several years on the Philadelphia Phillies beat for the Reading Eagle, Zonca is also the lead writer for the club’s Web site at readingphillies.com. 

Steve Degler, TV
The 2009 season will be Steve Degler's 18th season in the booth with the R-Phils but the first he'll exclusively do TV.  He is the “dean” of Eastern Leauge broadcasters. Degler has Major League experience as well. He hosted the Philadelphia Phillies pre and post-game shows on numerous occasions in 1999 and performed for the big club two weeks in 2000.

He'll also handle color analysis for every televised Lehigh Valley IronPigs game.

During the baseball off-season Degler handles television play-by-play duties for Lehigh University athletics, Niagara University, high school sports on The Comcast Network and provides color commentary for LaSalle University basketball radio broadcasts. Degler is a Kutztown University graduate. He also played baseball for the Golden Bears.

Tim Neiman, TV
Tim Neiman is in his third season as the analyst on televised Reading Phillies games.  Neiman's insights are fueled by nearly 30 years of experience coaching at the collegiate level, plus scouting experience with the Pirates and Brewers. 

He's been in his current position as the head coach at DeSales University in Center Valley, PA since 1990 and owns a career record of 473-256-4 (.645) and several NCAA appearances including a trip to the 2003 Division III College World Series .  Several of Neiman's players have been signed or drafted by professional teams.
